Welcome to Venture for Fund Raising's friend raising site! Like any idea whose time has come, Venture for Fund Raising began when a handful of development workers led by Jaime Faustino, Venture's founding Board Chair, Marvee Bonoan, John Silva, and Mayan Quebral wondered how long a great number of established Filipino NGOs could depend on foreign-sourced grants to fund their operations. Their unanimous verdict of course was "not for long". That gave birth to the idea of forming an NGO that would precisely address this need - the need of NGOs to sustain their good work, by teaching them fund raising skills. This led to the establishment of Venture for Fund Raising in March 1999. As the only nonprofit of its kind in Asia, our mission is to gain friends through our services such as consulting , training and research and public information assistance to people and organizations so that they, in turn, can raise and continue to give resources to fulfill their missions. Since our inception, we have helped over 700 organizations in 14 countries. In our 9 years existence, Venture has worked with non-profits that are active in different areas: environment, the arts, alternative law, charities, education, health care, religion, human rights, research, and other endeavors. We continuously run our public courses, implement customized courses, offer client-focused consulting services and convenes the Fund Raising Congress in the Philippines (2004, 2006 and upcoming in September 3-4, 2008 ) and the Kyra Awards - industry awards given out to non-profits with the best practices in fund raising. Venture was also involved in groundbreaking research that explored giving and fund raising in seven countries - Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, and Thailand. In addition, Venture commissioned surveys to explore the giving habits and behavior of Metro Manila residents (2001 and 2003) and throughout the Philippines (2006). These publications are among other resource materials on giving, fund raising, civil society and non-profit management that are available at the J. Faustino Fund Raising Library, located at the Venture for Fund Raising office. This library is open to the public and is an excellent resource for fund raisers, students and non-profit professionals.
